Description: Centro Ecológico is an NGO that has been working since 1985 to facilitate sustainable advances in agricultural production, by adopting alternative technologies guided by the philosophy of environmental preservation and social justice.
Through visits, meetings, courses, and training and planning workshops, the Centro Ecológico Ipê advises organizations of family farmers on production, processing, and marketing of ecological foods.
The mission of the Centro Ecológico is to promote the practice of an ecological agriculture with the following objectives:
1) To preserve /
reconstitute the ecological bases supporting agroecosystems and the
natural ecosystems related to them;
2) To seek economic and social viability for family farming;
3) To build solid, transparent, and fair relationships between the different agents involved in food production;
4) To strengthen the autonomy of urban and rural populations by constructing an ecological, popular, and mutually supportive economy, and a social development based on a valuation for work and respect for life in its different manifestations.
