The social cooperative Placido Rizzoto- Libera Terra was born in 2001 thanks to the Libera Terra project, promoted by the Libera association and the municipality of Palermo, which consisted in confiscating lands once owned by the mafia after years of years of abandonment, so they could be harvested.  The production method used is biological (organic) type, also the cooperative promotes hiring handicapped people, following a principle of solidarity and creating job opportunities for this group of people.
